Ede (Edgar) Keiser (born 1962 in Offenbach, Germany) has put together a collection of his best songs from his point of view and made a cd with the title ROCK'N'BACK. After 30 years of Rock'n'Roll it seems to be not the worst point of time to do something like this. Some of what happened during this period can be read below.
"I actionally grew up with the music of Cream, John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, Muddy Waters. At the age of 15 I decided to change over from playing football (what I had done with passion) to making music. I chose the bass guitar as "my" instrument as soon as I found out, that there were only four strings to deal with. Playing bass seemed much easier to learn than learning to play six string guitar: fatal error, but after I noticed that it was too late. "This time around" the last Deep Purple studio album for long years had been released and I had found the style of music I wanted to perform from now on: smashing hard rock. Already three months after saying hello to my first bass guitar I found myself on stage playing Jethro Tull songs, and in late '78 I became, 16 years old, a member of the band FAME that would lead me through the following two years very successfully. Beside going to school we had a lot of gigs playing own material. FAME was managed by the same agency who also promoted the British bands ROSETTA STONE (with ex Bay City Roller Ian Mitchell) and AGONY BAG (with Black Widow founding member Clive Jones) in Germany and so we were invited to support both acts on tour. We did a couple of shows together in Germany, but in November 1980 FAME disbanded.

I finished school and - after struggling through four years with several local bands and studying the law - became a student of art. I also worked on developing my style of bass playing by studying the records of Jack Bruce and Black Sabbath intensively. In 1984 I didn't even play one single gig: I spent my time in the studio making a record with ex DAMIEN singer John Cadden from Birmingham. Even John Mee, drummer of the GEEZER BUTLER BAND at that time (also a Birmingham fellow), hit the sticks for the recordings absolutely excellent, but, because of arguments about the whole quality, the metal stuff never had been released.

I hadn't enough jobs as a Hard Rock act, and so I remembered my old Blues- and Soulrecords and founded - after touring for a short period through American Military Bases in Germany - with singer and saxplayer Waymond Harding (born in Washington D.C., USA) and guitarist Alex Ksiesky (USA) the BLUES CRUISERS in Autumn 1988. Hundreds of gigs followed in Germany, Austria and Italy as well.

While being a part of the BLUES CRUISERS, I joined in the THUNDERING HEARTS (1990), a Southern Rock band who had supported MOLLY HATCHET, the BLUES BROTHERS BAND and many more before. Also this band was touring a lot. Having such a pretty long giglist of both bands it seemed more pleasant to pay the rent from music than go to work 'seriously', and after making the finals at the school of art in 1990 I decided to stay on the road - not forgetting to build up my reputation as a designer.
I was invited to work with the legendary German Shock Rock Show ALICE'S WONDERLAND (gigs and studio recordings in 1992, where I played bass and harmonica, engineered by Andy Lunn, who had worked with White Lion and Tony Carey before) and - what a contrast - REV. DOROTHY SMITH WILSON AND THE GOSPEL EXPRESS (recordings in 1997, cd released in the same year) after I had released my first solo cd 'Electric Angel' in Spring 1994. I performed with a huge number of musicians, including QUIET RIOT singer Paul Shortino, TOTO singer Bobby Kimball, Blues artist Gino Nevine from Seattle, LENINGRAD COWBOY Lyle Närvänen (with whom I'm still regular performing) and shared the stage with ALICE COOPER bandmembers Eric Singer and Stef Burns in early 1994, to name a few. In 1997 I had the bassplayer job in nine bands, performing most of the popular styles: Blues, Classic Rock, Country&Western, Progressive Rock, Southern Rock, Acoustic, and even Led Zeppelin and Mother's Finest tribute ... and I recorded with the BLUES CRUISERS (as a five piece band now) our debut album 'Cruisin' Free', including Rock and Soul hits and own material as well.
Beside this I started designing cd booklets (Dawson/Walter, Secrets Of The Heart, New York / 1997, Bonneville, The Piece Of Devilry / 1998, and the covers of my own projects of course …) and created a couple of trademark logos (Continental Fashion, Basic Wear For Your Comfort / 1994-1996: If you buy a t-shirt in Germany, there's still a chance to get one with the BasicWear logo). And from 1986 on I had produced a collection of airbrush paintings, mainly fantasy and science fiction motives. Moreover I started supporting other Bands as a web designer. When Clive Jones and former FAME buddy Stefan Bender built up a new version of AGONY BAG, I had the pleasure to design the band's homepage.

I also wrote the Science Fiction novel GORGON, which was finished in 1997. The book is soon to be offered as html with a special design and music on cd.

In early 1999 I was asked to join in Germany's most respected AC/DC 70's Tribute Show HOLE FULL OF LOVE and I accepted the invitation, although I was just building up my own new band BLACKBOX (with Cruisers guitarist Mike Lehberger in it), a three piece Blues Rock formation. One show hit the other and so there wasn't enough space anymore to play bass in so many groups like before. I had to shorten my bandlist by some names but never thought about leaving the Cruisers or giving up my own projects. HOLE FULL OF LOVE concerts in Germany, Austria and Swizerland regular got the attribute "sold out", and after a short time the band was well known as the AC/DC Tribute act with the highest booking frequency in Europe. Meanwhile I had taken over the graphic work in the band and created in late 1999 the logo of the act - a well known trademark that had helped making the band popular. Nowadays I'm working as the band's webmaster as well.
After a while I had the idea to spot the band's daily life in a cartoon series called 'THE HOLEFULLIES', which can be seen on their website.

Beside working live on stage (and drawing cartoons) I had never lost sight of writing music, and in 2003 the album I had worked on over a year, was completed. A pure instrumental concept album, featuring mainly the bass guitar. It was on me to play all guitars, basses, keyboards, harmonica and to program some drums. I was friendly supported by BLACKBOX drummer Thomas Frömming and my old Cruisers friend Waymond Harding, who played the saxophone. I titled the album HYBRID 101 and the headline of it all was 'SCIENCE FICTION PROJECT'.

In late 2003 I recorded together with both extraordinary guitarists Matthias Baumgardt and Lyle Närvänen the second album of ALL COLOURS, 'Coloured Coffee' (released in September 2005), including the songs 'Captain America' and 'Night Comes Every Morning' which were written and sung by myself.

In 2004 I performed with HOLE FULL OF LOVE in Afghanistan as the first Rock'n'Roll band that had ever played there (2 shows for the ISAF) and in Wales (at the legendary Wrexham BIG BALL: a three day festival introducing a selection of the very best AC/DC Tribute bands in the world). Original AC/DC founding member Dave Evans, who'd also appeared at the BIG BALL, finally performed together with HOLE FULL OF LOVE in late 2004 in Potsdam and sang a list of old AC/DC songs including 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl'."

HOLE FULL OF LOVE, who'd never played any other stuff than songs of the Bon Scott aera, decided in 2004 to write and record own material. After two years the work was done and the band released the following press notice in early 2007:

"Five guys from Frankfurt chose the classic and hardest way of Rock n`Roll, as focusing on 70`s AC/DC and founding a tribute band. As a result, within the last ten years, more than a hundred gigs took place in Germany as well as in several parts of the world. Finally, two internationally renowned musicians and producers, namely Ace, guitar player of the band "Skunk Anansie", and Herman Frank, playing the guitar in the band "Accept", took notice of them in 2004. Though being very busy, the two world-wide famous musicians were so impressed by the guys from Frankfurt, that they spent much time as producers for the recordings of their debut album. Beside, the band has changed its name and is called "Holefull" now. The album, including songs produced on their own, has exceeded all expectations and will be released soon."

"After finishing the HOLLEFULL recordings it was on me to design the cd's cover artwork. Besides I created the new website featuring "HOLEFULL - The Original Hard Rock" (holefull.com), not to confuse with "HOLE FULL OF LOVE - 70's AC/DC Show" (holefull.de) which I still handle as well.

In March 2007 I performed with HOLEFULL as supporting act before ROSE TATTOO very successful and even the hardest "one and only" AC/DC fans had to appreciate the new stage act playing own songs. In Summer 2007 HOLEFULL was invited to support FOREIGNER on their 'Greatest Hits' tour.

I'm still working with the BLUES CRUISERS, ALL COLOURS, THUNDERING HEARTS, HOLE FULL OF LOVE (including HOLEFULL) and - of course - my own BLACKBOX in which I put all the songs I love to play most of all: material of Robin Trower, Cream, Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Rick Derringer, Muddy Waters and and and … "

As mentioned before, EK now offers a cd that includes a collection of his best songs. All the lyrics and music was written by himself with the exception of 'I Love No More', which was composed by Dave Bartholomew. He also sang lead vocal, with the exception of 'No Sympathy', which was sung by Waymond Harding.
